Partnership with Inuka Tusonge: Job Skills Training for Tanzanian Women

In January 2022, we partnered with Inuka Tusonge, an Arusha-based nonprofit organization providing skills training to low income women. As a corporate sponsor, our 2022 funding covered 40% of the organization’s operations for the year. Graduates have gone on to college, work in shops and restaurants, and started their own businesses. One even climbs Kilimanjaro with us!

Inuka Tusonge’s 2022 graduates are now employed in hotels, restaurants, markets, hair salons and on Mount Kilimanjaro as porters. Some graduates are continuing their education in local colleges.

This year, 14 women graduated from Inuka Tusonge on December 14. View 2023 graduation ceremony images below. Four of our team attended the graduation - Jamal Msangi, George Mushi, Milcah Masaba, and Shakir Msangi. Inuka Tusonge founder Beatrice Lyimo is also pictured.

Want to volunteer at the center? We can arrange home stays and volunteer days at Inuka Tusonge. Email us for details.

Duma Explorer was founded as a female-owned business in 2004. Our sales team is 100% female, our office administrators in both Tanzania and Kenya are female. We employ female porters on our Kilimanjaro climbs.
