Oscar Mohammed's Biography

Oscar with client at Mweka Camp Oscar joined Duma in 2006 after working for other climbing companies for several years. He has a long and varied work history in the tourism industry. From 1996 until 2002, he guided walking safaris in Tarangire. He then helped build Boundary Hill Lodge which is also located in Tarangire. After that, he returned to Arusha and began climbing the mountain. He took a year off from the mountain to work as camp crew for a mobile tented camp located in Ngorongoro.

Oscar is experienced with many different treks in Northern Tanzania including Kilimanjaro, Lengai, Mount Meru and the Ngorongoro Highlands. He would eventually like to be a safari guide and he has obtained a Class C driving license to pursue this career path.

Oscar enjoys working for Duma because it is a Kilimanjaro Porters Assistance Project partner. This means that wages and worker conditions are better than those of most companies.

He enjoys climbing Kilimanjaro from May through November and he advises clients to follow an exercise routine prior to climbing Kilimanjaro.
