Amini Urio's Biography
"I like working for Duma because it keeps me busy. I enjoy the safari experience".
Amini Urio has been a chef since 1987 when he changed careers from automechanics to cooking. He always had a passion to join the tourism industry as he likes to meet new people.
Amini worked with Overseas Adventures (now Thomson Safaris) for 9 years as an assistant cook. Amini also worked with Winget Windrose for four years and Tanzania Game Tracker for four years before joining Duma Explorer in 2008. After spending years working in the bush on safaris, Amini decided to return to Arusha to spend more time with his family.
Amini has travelled to the Congo, Rwanda and the United States. In 1991, Amini traveled to the USA for four weeks and visited Arizona, Disneyland, Las Vegas and San Diego. It was an experience he will always remember. "I will always cherish this experience as it was something that I saw only in movies. I especially liked experiencing an airplane!" he says.
Amini Urio loves his job and aspires to become a tour guide based on his wide travel experience and passion for tourism.
Amini speaks good English and is proud of it. "I get to communicate with the guests about the food I make for them. It is very rewarding," he says.
Other hobbies: Amini loves soccer. During his free time he watches soccer and plays with his children.
He aspires to see his children get a proper education as he sees this as the key to success.
