Luxury Lodges and Tented Camps
Luxury lodge safaris frequent the high-end tented camps and lodges in the Northern Circuit. Visit the lodges page for details.
Duma's Frequented Lodges
Lodge and tented camps we frequently book include the following:
- Tarangire National Park: Tarangire Treetops, Swala Camp and Oliver's Camp
- Ngorongoro Conservation Area: Ngorongoro Crater Lodge and Lemala Camp
- Serengeti National Park: Suyan Camp, Sayari Camp, Migration Camp, Mbalageti, Serengeti Under Canvas, Oliver's Camp, Kirawira, and Lemala Serengeti
- Lake Manyara National Park and Karatu: Manyara Tree Lodge, Gibb's Farm and Plantation Lodge
- Lake Eyasi: Kisima Ngeda
- Arusha: Kigongoni Lodge, Onsea House and Arusha Hotel
Accommodations
The rooms at the high-end lodges are usually private bungalows or tents, and the entire lodge usually has no more than 15 rooms. Some high-end lodges have swimming pools, so be sure to bring your bathing suit with you.
During a luxury safari, game drives usually take place in the early morning and evening with a break for lunch. We recommend arriving at the lodge at least one half hour before sunset to acquaint yourself with the camp and its environment.
Travel Green!
Duma Explorer strives to frequent only those lodges that are environmentally friendly, and many of the lodges use solar energy, compost waste and build using locally available natural materials. All of the rooms are en-suite and the tented camps consist of a large bedroom with a sectioned off bathroom adjoined to the bedroom.
Additional Options
Night drives and bush walks can be arranged at camps located outside the national parks. During night game drives, you will spot nocturnal animals including many cat and bird species. You may also see several species of elusive chameleons. During walking safaris, lodge staff teach about local cultures and traditions, as well as provide information on the plant and birdlife. Some lodges have geology specialists on staff.
A Serengeti balloon safari extension can be added in the Serengeti.
