Camping safaris are designed for those who don't mind eating and sleeping outside. We only recommend adventure camping for people with some camping experience.

Our campsites comprise sleeping tents with mattresses and pillows, each set up next to a table and chairs. During some safaris we include additional shower and toilet tents.

During a camping safari, the cook and driver will pitch the tents, cook the food and set up camp. Guests relax while snacking on popcorn, peanuts and fresh fruit. Tea, coffee and bottled drinking water are always available at the campsite, and guests are encouraged to make special meal and snack requests. Usually, a hot breakfast is served in the morning before leaving on the game drive. For those wanting an early morning game drive, the cook can prepare a breakfast box.

Lunches are a combination of picnic lunches in the park and hot lunches at the campsite. Dinner is generally served just after sunset, leaving you a couple of hours before the meal to explore the campsite area on foot. Most private campsites have shower and toilet facilities; public campsites maintained by the national park generally have pit toilets and cold showers.

    Tents

We use locally made canvas tents during camping safaris. Our tents can sleep two to six people, and we tailor tent sizes based on your group's needs. We recommend that families with small children share our large family tents. Because the campsites are often in areas with wildlife, you may hear and sometimes see wildlife close by. It is recommended that campers visit the bathrooms in pairs and that they refrain from leaving their tents after dark.

    Camping locations

On a camping safari, guests and staff sleep in private tents in designated campsites in or near the national parks. Whenever possible, we utilize more remote campsites to make your camping experience more private. There are toilet and shower facilities at almost all the campsites, although the level of cleanliness varies. We will heat water for your shower at more remote sites.
