Volunteering with Duma

Interested in experiencing life in Tanzania first-hand? We recommend adding a few days to your trip to volunteer at a rural kindergarten. Volunteer projects at the school include constructing furniture, mixing cement, painting, and classroom design. Trained teachers can also give English lessons and assist in the classroom. We recommend volunteering for at least three days.

Work at the school is usually completed in the morning while the afternoon consists of various opportunities to experience village life. Home visits, walks around the village, a traditional meal and a cultural tour can all be arranged in conjunction with the volunteer project.

We advise giving a donation to the school when volunteering although this is not necessary. You will pay for lodging and meals in Arusha while Duma will arrange transport to the school and project materials.
