Day hike on Kilimanjaro
You don't have to hike to Kilimanjaro's near 6,000-meter summit to enjoy the mountain. Add a hike inside the national park to any safari itinerary and hike through two of the park's five climate zones. Celebrate the hike with dinner and a glass or two of whiskey at Kaliwa Lodge, a short drive from Machame Gate and the starting point of Kilimanjaro's 'Whiskey Route'. Kaliwa Lodge, home to Tanzania's largest whiskey collection, offers a wide range of whiskeys from all over the world to celebrate its proximity to the route.

Explore A Day in the Kilimanjaro Rainforest Itinerary
Day 1:
Depart Kaliwa Lodge after an early breakfast for your full-day hike inside Kilimanjaro National Park. Start your hike at 8 AM and meander through the rain forest. Spend several hours in the rain forest until you get to Machame Camp. View wildlife and birdlife as you trek through the forest. Enjoy lunch here, with possibly the most magnificent views of Kilimanjaro's peak. Make your way back down the mountain and meet your vehicle. Overnight at Kaliwa Lodge. You should bring rain gear and good hiking shoes. Your guide will explain the wildlife and vegetation you encounter as you hike through the forest.
