About Us

We are a Tanzanian and American-owned company founded in 2002. With offices in Tanzania, the United States and South Africa, we arrange trips throughout the East African region.

Our staff comes from various backgrounds and regions of East Africa and most have been with us for more than a decade. We are proud of our high standards of service, and look forward to making happy memories for our guests for many years to come!

An American originally from Texas, Stacy Readal studied abroad in Tanzania while she was an undergraduate at U.C. Berkeley. She fell in love with Tanzania and returned as a volunteer after finishing her degree. During that time, she bought her first safari vehicle and started Duma Explorer. Stacy lived in Tanzania for 15 years (she took a break for 2 years to earn an MBA from UCLA), has traveled all over Africa, and speaks fluent Swahili. She is now located in the San Francisco Bay Area and makes regular trips back to Africa. She custom designs many of our travelers’ trips herself.

Omary Ridhiwan is originally from the Pare Region of Tanzania. After finishing his studies in 1990, he moved to Arusha to work in the tourism industry. Stacy and Omary have been working together since 2008. Omary now manages all operations on the ground in Tanzania and is the owner of Alika Africa, our Tanzania branch. When you arrive in Arusha, Omary will be there to greet you.
