A remote and wild park, Ruaha is more than 20,000 square kilometers in size. Game highlights include elephant, lion, zebra, warthog, and wild dog. It is also a birder's paradise, with more than 500 species recorded in this park alone.

Its delta has the largest mangrove forest in East Africa. Game highlights include elephant, lion, hippo, croccidile, and wild dog; the area is home to about a third of the continent's remaining wild dogs.
